Our mission & impact
Bringing the outdoors to everyone.
Every trip funds a bigger purpose
Kehela Camping is more than a rental business. It is the engine behind Project X. 100% of Kehela Camping's revenue funds, directly or indirectly, the research, prototyping, testing and development of our assistive mobility technology.
So when you camp with us, your weekend helps make every walkable place accessible to wheelchair users.
Why it started
An engineer who loves the outdoors
Adam Kehela is a product development engineer with a deep passion for the outdoors. Road trips across North America, hauling a trailer and finding hidden campsites, have always been his greatest joy.
Seeing people close to him live with mobility challenges changed how he sees outdoor freedom. Millions of wheelchair users have to choose between indoor maneuverability, outdoor capability, sitting, standing or climbing stairs. That led to Project X.
Project X
One device that goes where people want to go
Travel has no limits
Adam ran into accessible travel advocate Cory Lee (@curbfreecorylee) at the Abilities Expo. Cory has been showing the world that travel has no limits, which is exactly what Project X is building toward.
